Grade 2 listed Savile Row premises

Since 1992 Richard James has quickly established a reputation for itself as a leading luxury brand that has set the standard for contemporary tailoring and menswear.Oakwoods are pleased to announce the successful opening of their new 2500 sq ft Grade 2 listed Savile Row premises, now known as Richard James House.

Oakwoods UK successfully completed the full refurbishment and fit-out of the new 2,500 sq ft flagship premises for Richard James, a brand that sets the standard for contemporary tailoring. The project encompassed the transformation of three floors of a prestigious Grade 2 listed building into a contemporary and welcoming space The full refurbishment of 3 floors for the bespoke Savile Row Tailors was completed over 16 weeks on-site following the pre-planning and design works completed in the year prior to the start.

Working closely with the team from Richard James, David Thomas Design & Nick Feltham Associates, Oakwoods have produced the transformation of the premises to the new design.The provision of the bespoke joinery fixtures to incorporate the ready to wear range on the ground floor and the made to measure collection of the first floor also included the cocktail bar. It’s a space that at once sums up what Richard James is all about. “Purposeful design, and the finish is great,” says David Thomas, the man who oversaw it. “But it’s also comfortable and convivial and relaxed. And it’s not intimidating. Savile Row can be intimidating…”

Project Scope and Collaboration

The complex site work was completed over 16 weeks, following a full year of pre-planning and design preparation. Oakwoods UK worked closely with the Richard James team, David Thomas Design, and Nick Feltham Associates to bring the new design to life.

The fit-out included the provision of extensive bespoke joinery fixtures to display the brand's collections:

Ground Floor: Dedicated to the ready-to-wear range.

First Floor: Dedicated to the made-to-measure collection.

Unique Feature: Installation of a luxurious cocktail bar.
